Minutes of the July 7, 2010 Final
Present for the Commission: Richard Steves, Pam Goff, Sandy Broyard,
Dick Smith, Todd Christy, Administrative Assistant.
Public: Reid Silva, Chris Alley, Wendy Weldon, Michele Lasser
The meeting was opened at 12:36pm by Richard Steves.
Safari House: Certificate of Compliance; SE 12 – 605; AP 29-18
There was no discussion. Motion to approve the Certificate of Compliance for the walking path to Chilmark Pond. Seconded and unanimously approved.
Public Hearing: NOI SE 12 – 612; AP27.1-45
Bollin Property: Order of Conditions:
Mr. Silva described the situation of this property, map 27.1, parcel 45. It has a very tight lot and the proposal would place the leeching field in the front of the property near the road, while the solid waste collects in the rear of the house in the two pump chambers. The standard conditions Order of Conditions calls for including siltation fences that would be checked by a member of the ConComm. Before work begins.
Mr. Steves closed the public hearing at 12:40pm. The motion was made to approve the Order of Conditions for the Bollin Property with the standard conditions. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.
The members signed the Order of Conditions.
Harrison Property:
Pier: Certificate of Compliance; SE 12 – 476; AP 33-114:
Motion to approve? There was a question about changing planks, which is ok, but anything in the water needs to have a pre-construction meeting with the ConComm.
The motion was made to approve with the ongoing condition of reviewing a plan for any activity in the water before the work begins. That motion was seconded and unanimously approved.
(Mr. Alley took the signed copy and made 5 copies for Todd)
Wendy Weldon/ Michele Lasser:
Squibnocket Pond District Association Committee
Ms. Weldon and Ms. Lasser were present to discuss the allowed use of Rodeo/Round-up on Phragmites within the Squibnocket pond shoreline. The SPDAC district regulations strictly forbid the use of chemicals to control invasive species of plants, and yet, the ConComm had approved the use of Chemicals to contain Phragmites on the Spector property. Since it is not clear if the use of these chemicals may pose a health risk to humans and other species within the pond, the SPDAC has disallowed the use of these chemicals. The ConComm agreed they had not read through the SPDAC rules and regulations before allowing the use of these chemicals. The Commission thought it best to simply writing Mr. Spector a letter informing him that he should discontinue the use of such chemicals and that burn and cutting methods have safely yielded similar
results.
The Commission members thanked Ms. Weldon and Ms. Lasser for taking the time to come in and to keep them posted as to the progress with Phragmites.
Meeting Minutes:
The Committee approved the minutes presented from June 16, 2010
Administration:
The board signed: Bollin Order of Conditions; SE 12 – 612; AP 27.1-45.
